While the snow storm was raging two weeks ago today, and my power was out, and smoke was coming into my home from this fire that took place one half block away, I called Allstate, my insurance company...they didn't know whether or not my policy covered me staying somewhere else so that I may have heat, light and fresh air. But just in case they might be so kind as to honor my policy they advised me to file a claim.
The next day (after I sat half the night in the cold with a wet rag over my nose) they called and said they would NOT be responsible and a week later they DROPPED MY COVERAGE, for filing a claim which they advised me to file and for which they denied coverage.
So let's get the facts right....I paid for my policy, I had an emergency, I called ALLSTATE, they said to file a claim, they then denied the claim and TERMINATED MY POLICY...I have since filed a formal complaint with the PA Insurance Commission. We'll see how they rule.
Thank you ALLSTATE for showing us that in some areas, there is no gray, only wrong or right...it helps with philosophical discussions with 7 year olds.
